As part of this role, you'll join one of our Subscriptions teams in London, focused on the core proposition and working across our three subscription programmes - DashPass, Deliveroo Plus, and Wolt+. You'll work closely with engineering teams across the US and Europe, as part of the Global Subscription organisation, to build and evolve the shared subscriptions capabilities that power loyalty and membership experiences for millions of customers worldwide.</p> <p>We're hiring backend engineers who want to be at the front line of what engineering looks like in the age of AI.</p> <h2><strong>💡 Why Subscriptions?&nbsp;</strong></h2> <ul> <li>An AI-first team by design. This isn't about using Copilot to autocomplete boilerplate. We mean engineers who:</p> <ul> <li>Design workflows where AI agents handle entire task loops, from spec to PR.</li> <li>Think in terms of orchestration: what does a human review, what does the agent own?</li> <li>Build internal tooling and abstractions that make AI-assisted development faster and more reliable for the whole team.</li> <li>Stay curious and ahead of the curve - trying new models, agents, and tools as they emerge, and forming strong opinions about what's genuinely useful vs. hype.</li> </ul> <p>If you find yourself naturally asking "can an agent do this?" before reaching for the keyboard, you'll fit right in.</p> <h2>🔍 What We're Looking For Across all roles</h2> <ul> <li>Strong engineering fundamentals - you've built and shipped software that runs at scale, and you understand what that entails: testing, observability, reliability, and maintainability.</li> <li>Genuine enthusiasm for AI-first development. You use AI tools daily and have formed real opinions about how to get the most out of them.</li> <li>Ownership mentality: you drive projects forward, communicate clearly across teams and time zones, and don't wait to be told what to do.</li> <li>Collaborative instincts - the Subscriptions domain sits at the intersection of consumer mobile, web, backend, and data. Cross-functional work is the norm, not the exception.</li> </ul> <h2>🙌 About You&nbsp;</h2> <ul> <li>You've built and shipped real software - products, platforms, APIs, apps - and you know what it takes to keep things running reliably in production. You have opinions about architecture but hold them lightly. You write tests. You read the alerts. You've been experimenting with AI agents and agentic coding workflows - not because someone told you to, but because you couldn't help yourself. You think about how to redesign your development loop from first principles, not how to bolt AI onto the way you already work.</li> <li>You communicate well, collaborate easily across disciplines, and care about the product as much as the code.
