At IONOS Cloud we develop business-critical cloud infrastructures and modern management platforms. We are looking for a software developer with a strong focus on quality who is enthusiastic about modern, AI-supported development methods to radically accelerate the testing, validation and deployment of our cloud applications.

In this role, you will not only write test scripts manually - you will use AI tools and agent-based workflows (“Vibe Coding”, LLM-supported scaffolding, automated triage) to automate test processes, generate dynamic specifications and eliminate repetitive quality assurance friction in our cloud control panels, APIs and microservices.

Task area

• AI-powered test automation: Leverage AI to quickly create, maintain and extend automated test suites for IONOS Cloud applications and APIs.
• QA lifecycle automation: Implement AI-driven solutions to generate synthetic test data, analyze defect logs, and optimize defect classification.
• Spec-driven development with AI: Leverage API schemas (OpenAPI/Swagger) and functional specifications as a foundation to inspire, generate and validate tests and code before merging features.
• Application and Platform Validation: Design end-to-end and integration testing frameworks (using Python, Pytest, and modern API/UI runners) for cloud control panels, backend microservices, and provisioning workflows.
• CI/CD integration and pipeline integrity: Integrate automated testing workflows into GitLab CI/GitHub Actions to ensure fast feedback loops and consistently eliminate unreliable tests.
• Continuous process innovation: Continuously evaluate and test new AI tools, agents and frameworks that increase team productivity and system reliability.

Qualifications

• Professional experience in the areas of software quality assurance, test automation or software development in the test area (SDET).
• AI-first mindset: Daily, hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and LLMs to write code, generate test data, or automate routine operations.
• You know how to formulate effective prompts, critically review generated results and work around tedious standard code passages. Experience developing custom CLI utilities would be an advantage.
• Strong automation expertise: Sound programming knowledge and extensive experience with test automation. Experience with Pytest, TypeScript or contract testing (e.g. Pact) would be an advantage.
• Specification-based API testing: Experience testing RESTful APIs and distributed microservices derived directly from formal specifications.
• Cloud and container native: Secure handling of Linux environments, Docker containers, Kubernetes and central cloud concepts (IaaS, PaaS, networks and virtual machines).
• CI/CD expertise: Practical experience in integrating automated testing phases into GitLab CI, GitHub Actions or comparable CI pipelines.
• Commitment to quality: Strong critical thinking skills paired with a “builder” mentality – you proactively uncover edge cases, question requirements early on and optimize the developers’ feedback loops.
• Security check (SÜ2): Willingness to undergo an extended security check (SÜ2).
