You translate complex issues in energy and infrastructure into AI that is actually used.

From grid congestion and connection requests to inspections and customer processes: utilities work with complex systems, large amounts of information and high demands. reliability.

As a Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer you work close to the customer's operations. Within weeks you reduce "we want something with AI" to a use case that you can test, or you honestly say that it is not (yet) possible. Then you design and build the solution and bring it live in cycles of days. And then you make yourself redundant.

What are you going to do?

You bridge the gap between business and technology: you sit at the customer's table, design the solution and often implement it as well yourself.

• Get use cases in focus: together with business development, you conduct discovery conversations, test use cases against real data and systems and build a proof-of-value in days.

• Transfer and measure: the customer can run the solution themselves, and after go-live you measure whether it is really being used. That is your benchmark.

• Making us smarter: You make what you learn reusable for the next customer, and you help new FDEs get started.

About 10% of your time goes to pre-sales and 90% to delivery; business development is the commercial owner.

AI for processes that must continue to run

You know the practice of energy companies, grid operators or other utilities: technical assets, work orders, customer questions, data flows and coordination between operational and IT systems. Consider:

• Process connection requests faster in times of grid congestion, with AI that organizes the information and helps employees with the assessment.

• Agents who summarize and prepare inspection reports, technical documentation, and work orders for engineers and planners.

• Customer contact about contracts and annual settlements.

What do you bring?

• Demonstrable experience in utilities, such as energy, grid management or technical infrastructure: you know the processes, data and systems from the inside out.

• You have AI solutions with LLMs and agents designed, put into production and maintained, including evals, guardrails, monitoring and security.

• Strong in Python and SQL, and hands-on with at least one cloud (Azure, AWS or GCP) and a data platform such as Databricks, Snowflake or Fabric.

• You work with coding agents on a daily basis and critically assess what they deliver.

• Experience in a customer-facing role, such as consultancy, pre-sales, solutions engineering or your own startup.

• You speak and write fluently Dutch and English.

Beautiful: experience with asset management, smart meter data or OT/IT, and with classic ML such as load forecasts.

What this does not is

• No individual secondment. You work on projects on behalf of adesso, with a team behind you.

• No PoC graveyard. We build to use.

• No slides without code. Your advice comes with a working version.

• No agent because it's possible. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best, and you say so.

The team

You will become part of our AI Engineering team: AI engineering consultants in two roles. The Forward Deployed AI Engineer (FDE) owns the customer problem and designs the solution, including the agentic architecture. The AI Engineer goes into depth about construction, data, MLOps and scale, and thinks about the right approach based on the customer's request.

You are given the space to shape your own work, but you are never solely responsible for all specialisms.

  What do you get from us?

  • €5,850–€7,150 gross per month based on 40 hours;
