The Vice-Rector's Office for Information Technologies of the University of Chile (VTI) is the first vice-rector's office dedicated 100% to Technology in Chile. We are the spearhead of pushing IT throughout the university and its institutions. We have a team of over 140 people and we are responsible for promoting changes in the University for the 21st century.

We believe that digitizing the University will make it an institution in line with the technological advances of current times;promoting the incorporation of digital tools in its internal processes so that they contribute to efficiency in administrative management and promoting learning processes that take advantage of the richness of current platforms, allowing the exchange of knowledge and experiences with the rest of the world.

Analytical Data Modeling:

Design, complete and maintain the data model;analytical (events, metrics, dimensions).;Define analytics-oriented data structures (fact tables, dimensions, relationships);Ensure consistency, traceability and quality of data.;Document models and definitions of metrics.

Integration of Data Sources

Integrate data from: o platform event logs o relational databases (SQL) o non-relational databases (MongoDB) Design data transformation processes (ETL/ELT).Resolve integration, duplicity and data quality problems.

Analysis and Structuring of Events

o Interpret and structure user interaction events.o Model learning and behavioral actions within the platform.o Define key metrics from events (engagement, progress, usage, etc.).

Development of Data APIs

o Design and develop APIs to expose metrics and analytical data.o Implement efficient endpoints for consumption by external interfaces and systems.o Ensure good design practices (performance, versioning, consistency).

Optimization and Analytical Support

o Optimize queries and structures for efficient analysis.o Support the generation of reports and visualizations.o Collaborate with technical and functional teams.

The work is part of the development of the FONDEF project, titled “How do I progress in my learning?:
Intelligent system to strengthen the self-regulation of online learning in higher education students.”

This initiative continues a previous project aimed at developing predictive and explanatory models of self-regulated learning through learning analytics. In this new stage, the focus is on the design and implementation of solutions that actively strengthen the self-regulation of students in digital environments, understood as the ability to plan, monitor and evaluate their own learning process.

The work considers the intensive use of educational data and the development of evidence-based tools to improve the learning experience and outcomes in higher education.

Functions of the position

Responsible for designing, completing and optimizing the data model that supports the learning metrics of the LMS platforms managed by the EOL Office, implemented on Open edX.

The objective of the position is to integrate multiple data sources (event logs, relational and non-relational databases) to structure a consistent system of events, learning actions and metrics per user and course, as well as enable accessto this information through APIs
for consumption in interfaces and external systems.

The candidate is expected to be able to quickly understand existing data architectures,
work on systems under development and complete both the modeling and the data exposure layer.
