Description: About the position

At the Department of Information Technology there is a 100% permanent position available as senior engineer/department engineer in IT operations - with immediate entry.

The department is one of five departments under the Faculty of Technology, Art and Design at OsloMet. The department has extensive teaching and research activities, with a strong focus on combining high academic quality and industrial relevance. The work will be linked to study support and facilitation of the institute's core activities through planning, rollout, maintenance and operation of its digital services. Assignments and implementation of laboratory exercises, as well as supervision of students, can be included as main work tasks.

The appointed person will be given exciting tasks, such as testing new technologies, hardware and software, have extensive cooperation with the teaching staff and regular contact with students and possibly external clients. There are also good opportunities for active participation in research projects and teaching for those who wish to do so. • develop solutions for the institute's own cloud portfolio
• support students' and employees' use of new technology through the development and maintenance of documentation
• work with purchasing for teaching, student projects and research projects, including assisting with the estimation and development of requirements specifications
• work with maintenance, availability, application and purchase of hardware that falls outside the existing procurement processes
• assist with support for users of the institute's own digital services, carry out continuous monitoring and maintenance of the institute's own digital services, as well as plan future upgrades or new technological investment areas
• contribute to OsloMet's ongoing digitization process by being a driving force for new technology to be used
• conduct coordination meetings with relevant professional resources both internally in the institute, and with other relevant departments

• minimum bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area (information technology, system development, computer engineering, computer security, or related fields)
• good competence in programming (e.g. Python, Java, JavaScript, C/C++)
• basic knowledge of Linux, networks, computer security, cloud-based services, DevOps, system administration, system planning, documentation, configuration and handling of error situations
• experience with automation and product development within self-service and cloud services
• good Norwegian (or another Scandinavian language) and English skills, written and spoken

• experience from teaching/supervising students
• experience with virtualization technology, such as Proxmox, OpenStack or similar
• knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or other tools for container administration and orchestration
• practical skills in the relevant subject area
• Experience with purchasing processes

• you have the ability to work independently, but also in a team with other engineers and teaching staff
• you have the ability to take responsibility for planning and carrying out the required tasks
• you have good collaboration and communication skills, and the ability to to explain complicated things in a simple way

• you are flexible and you are willing to learn and further develop new skills in line with the professional and technological development

The position is paid in accordance with the main collective agreements in the state and the Oslo Metslønnspolitik employment code 1085 department engineer, NOK 580,000 - 640,000 per year, or in position code 1087 chief engineer, NOK 650,000 - 720,000 per year, depending on competence. For particularly qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered. A 2% pension contribution to the Statens pensionskasse (SPK) is deducted from the salary.
