Alveon MedTech GmbH is an innovative medical technology startup based in Ostfildern near Stuttgart. Our focus is on the development of medical inhalation systems. Since our founding in 2020, we have successfully developed a patent-protected basic technology. We are currently working – as part of a strategic partnership with one of the largest German companies in the medical cannabis market – on the development and approval of the first metered cannabis inhaler for the European market.

Now the crucial phase begins: testing, verification and approval. We are expanding our laboratory in Ostfildern and are looking for someone to take charge of the testing technology there.

As a Project Engineer for Development and Testing Technology, you are responsible for our experimental and test setups: you build them, you carry out the tests, you evaluate them and document them reliably. Your focus is clearly in the laboratory and on the test bench. In addition, you design devices and components and build prototypes.

You work directly with our CTO and development manager, in a small team with short distances. Purchasing and supplier qualification are the responsibility of colleagues - you provide the technical assessment.

Tasks

Focus: experiment, test setup and laboratory

• Construction, commissioning and further development of testing devices, measuring stations and test stands
• Planning, implementation and evaluation of development and verification tests, including evaporation performance, dosing accuracy, temperature behavior, tightness and service life
• Setting up and supporting the measurement technology including calibration and test equipment management
• Preparation, support and evaluation of testing campaigns at external laboratories and universities
• Creation of test plans, test protocols, test and development reports

Additional: construction and prototyping

• Construction of devices, adapters and components in CAD
• Prototyping using 3D printing as well as construction, labeling and traceability of samples
• Technical evaluation of components and materials made of ceramic, injection molding and silicone
• Work on technical documentation in accordance with MDR and ISO 13485

Qualification

To be successful in this position, you should have the following:

• Completed technical studies (e.g. mechanical engineering, medical technology, process engineering, physics) or technician degree with relevant experience
• 5 years of professional experience in testing, test bench construction or measurement technology
• Safe handling of measurement technology as well as the evaluation and presentation of test data
• Practical experience in CAD, for example with SolidWorks, Creo or Fusion 360
• Excellent hands-on mentality: you build things yourself, measure things yourself and get involved in the lab
• Careful, comprehensible documentation of your work
• High self-motivation, self-structuring and sense of responsibility
• Quick comprehension, analytical thinking and the willingness to delve deeply into technical and regulatory topics
• Willingness to work on site in Ostfildern as well as occasional assignments with partners and testing laboratories
• Fluent in German, fluent in spoken and written English

The following are particularly advantageous:

• Experience in developing medical devices under EU MDR
• Knowledge of the quality standards ISO 9001 and ISO 13485
• Experience with aerosols, inhalation, thermodynamics or fluid dynamics
• Knowledge of statistical experimental design and evaluation, for example with Python, Minitab or R
• Experience in a startup environment
