Description:

As an R&D Engineer you are the driving force behind innovation within chemical processes. Together with your colleagues, you manage projects that on the one hand bring technological progress and on the other hand contribute to sustainable solutions. You ensure that market trends and environmental regulations are translated into practically scalable applications. 

A selection from your duties is the following:

• Initiatingand leadingsustainable R&D projects, focusing onCO₂ reduction, recyclability and alternative raw materials; 
• Developing future-oriented materials and paste formulas that respond to regulations and customer expectations; 
• Pursuing zero-waste during the process;
• Implement ecological optimisations;
• Mapping process variations;
• Solvingtechnical bottlenecks using sustainable methods; 
• Setting up entry checks in collaboration with suppliers and the internal quality team; 
• Screening of alternative raw materials, as well as testing them for performance and environmental impact; 
• Integrating stock planningand lifecycle analysis into the sourcing policy; 
• You actively focus on reuse and "design for recyclability"; 
• Linking economic feasibility to ecological benefits; 
• Calculating and optimizing costs and consumption in the context of sustainable raw materials; 
• Collaborate with colleagues from different departments; 
• Translating sustainable strategies into clear communication for customers, suppliers and colleagues; 
• Participate in overarching sustainability initiatives.

What makes you the ideal candidate? 

• A master in chemistry or similar;
• You already have several years of experience in an industrial environment, preferably in chemistry or coatings;
• A very good knowledge of the Dutch language and a good knowledge of English. If you speak French or German, this is certainly a plus.
• Analytical, innovative, project-based and sustainability-minded are qualities that characterize you;
• A hands-on mentality with an active urge to tackle matters yourself is something you completely identify with;
• You have an eye for detail and work accurately;
• Flexible in terms of changing priorities;
• You are problem-solving and also have an eye for improvements in the production process; 
• You are willing to travel occasionally (15-20%).
