We are building a professional legal services marketplace designed to connect consumers with qualified legal professionals to resolve needs efficiently. Our current focus is a professional legal services app serving customers in the United States, with plans to expand to additional countries. This project emphasizes a user-centric frontend experience across outward-facing websites, customer portals, and lawyer portals, built to scale with a growing, international team. You will contribute to a fast-moving, collaborative environment where frontend work directly impacts how people access legal services online.

We are seeking a senior backend developer with deep Django/Python experience and strong production judgment.

Must-haves:
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience, including substantial Python and Django experience.
- Prior engineering experience at a top technology company such as Google, Microsoft, Meta, OpenAI, Amazon, Apple, Stripe, or a similarly rigorous product engineering organization.
- Daily or near-daily practical experience with Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar AI coding tools. This is a must-have, not a nice-to-have.
- Strong PostgreSQL, REST API, data modeling, and production debugging skills.
- Experience with AWS or comparable cloud infrastructure, background processing, observability, and secure handling of sensitive data.
- C1 English or higher and excellent written communication for a remote, international team.
- Senior-level ownership: ability to break down ambiguous product needs, make pragmatic technical decisions, and raise the quality bar for others.

Our backend powers intake, attorney workflows, case operations, communication, payments, and integrations used by real legal teams every day.

We are looking for an AI-native senior backend developer who has worked in a rigorous engineering culture at a top technology company such as Google, Microsoft, Meta, OpenAI, Amazon, Apple, Stripe, or a comparable product-led engineering organization. Hands-on experience using Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar coding agents is a must.

- Maintain and extend our Django backend, PostgreSQL data model, REST APIs, and AWS-backed production services.
- Design reliable backend features for legal intake, attorney operations, client/lawyer portals, communications, payments, and internal workflows.
- Build and review integrations, webhook handlers, scheduled/async work, and operational tooling with strong logging and failure handling.
- Improve query performance, API correctness, security, and reliability without adding unnecessary complexity.
- Use Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar AI coding tools as part of the daily engineering workflow while carefully reviewing, testing, and validating generated code.
- Partner with frontend developers and US-based leadership to ship high-impact product work quickly and safely.

- 10+ years of backend engineering experience or prior staff/lead-level ownership.
- Experience with high-scale marketplace, fintech, legaltech, healthcare, or other sensitive-data platforms.
- Strong query optimization, incident response, and API contract design skills.
- Familiarity with React/JavaScript frontend workflows so you can collaborate smoothly across the stack.
- C2 English, startup experience, and a bias toward fast, careful shipping.
