Description: MAIA is an AI platform for companies. With MAIA, teams search their internal data and embed agents deep into their processes. We support companies in using AI not only in individual departments, but throughout the entire company. Technically, this means: We build a GenAI application with our own agent systems, RAG pipelines and agent-based workflows, connect our customers' external systems and analyze their data. We use the best available models, operated in the EU, and make them reliable for demanding work with large, complex amounts of data. Numerous industrial companies have been working intensively with MAIA for years. After our successful financing round in 2026, we are now bringing MAIA into the mainstream. MAIA has been developed in Leipzig since 2021. As a product engineer, you are responsible for features from start to finish: from discussions with customers to the concept through to implementation and further development in production. What you can work on: Understanding customers and the market. You talk to users, attend customer appointments and evaluate usage data. This is how you find out where MAIA can help the most in your everyday work. You work closely with product management and customer success. From problem to concept. You write concepts, build prototypes to quickly test ideas, and tailor features so that they reach users early. Implement across the entire stack. You write the implementation plan, have coding agents implement it and are responsible for architecture and quality Data model down to the surface. AI that you can understand. You shape how people work with MAIA: ask questions, provide context, have agents complete multi-step tasks and understand results. Measure and develop further. After the release, you check whether a feature is used and helps, and develop it based on feedback, usage data and evals continue. Solid software engineering. You have built and put products into production that people work with every day, across the backend and frontend. You can recognize weak architecture even if a coding agent wrote it. Very good in at least one of our languages. TypeScript, Python or Go, preferably one of the statically typed ones. You don't have to bring all three with you. You work your way into the others. Product experience. You spoke to customers, questioned requirements and accompanied features from the first idea to daily use. You listen carefully and recognize the problem behind a request. A feeling for good operation. You notice when an interface overwhelms people and you would rather build a simple solution that is understood than a powerful one that no one can find. At home in the LLM ecosystem. You have built applications with LLMs, professionally or in your own complex projects, and you know them Peculiarities: Answers vary, take time, and agents fail in unexpected places. You build products that deal with it honestly. Measure instead of assume. You check whether a feature works with usage data, feedback and evals. You build the simplest solution that solves the problem. Work as an agent. Coding agents are part of your everyday life. You write plans that others can check and that coding agents can build on, critically examine the results and know where they help and where they don't. Communicate clearly. Your concepts are understood the first time you read them. You enjoy talking to customers as well as engineers. You speak German and English very confidently. The role does not include any personnel responsibility. We will discuss openly with you whether you want to join as a product engineer or senior product engineer after the technical interview at the latest. We are united by a common goal: to build a really good product. Everyone takes responsibility for their own topic. We enjoy our work and are proud of what our customers achieve with MAIA. The paths are short and decisions are made quickly. In the engineering team, we critically question how we develop and constantly improve our processes, especially in agentic development. We like to work together in our office, centrally between the city center and the zoo, and cook together almost every day. We are on site at least three days a week, the rest you work wherever you want. You decide when your day begins. Access to current Frontier models and coding agents Support with further training that fits your professional development Access to a Wellpass membership The annual gross salary is between €75,000 and €95,000. Where you fall in this range depends on your level. We'll talk about this after the technical interview at the latest. There is also virtual participation via our VSOP. You do not need a cover letter. Send us your CV and answer a question in a few sentences of your own: Why do you want to help shape MAIA? We work with AI every day. But your own perspective counts for this answer. So please write it yourself, preferably briefly and without polish. If it fits, there will be a 30-minute get-to-know-you, a 90-minute technical interview, which also covers product decisions, and a final discussion with the management. After each step, you will usually hear from us within two working days. Our goal is to make a decision in around three weeks. We look forward to receiving your application.
