Description: Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Python/Django Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable applications, backend services, data-processing solutions, and enterprise integrations within a higher-education technology environment. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Python and Django, along with recent experience in EdTech, higher education, e-learning, LMS, student platforms, or similar education technology environments. Candidates must also have successfully completed at least two full system or application migrations and be able to clearly demonstrate their role throughout the migration lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python applications and backend services. Develop web applications and APIs using Python/Django. Build data-processing solutions using Python, Pandas, NumPy, and PySpark. Work with large and complex datasets and enterprise data environments. Develop integrations between enterprise applications, platforms, and data systems. Work with PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL-based databases. Develop and support cloud-based applications using AWS. Work with AWS services including S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS, SQS, SNS, and Redshift. Containerize applications using Docker. Work with Git, Linux, and CI/CD processes. Troubleshoot and resolve application and production issues. Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability. Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and technical documentation. Collaborate with engineers, data professionals, architects, and business stakeholders in an Agile environment. Required Qualifications 8 10+ years of professional software development experience. Strong hands-on experience with Python and Django. Recent experience in EdTech, higher education, e-learning, LMS, student platforms, or learning technology. Experience developing enterprise applications and backend services. Strong SQL experience with PostgreSQL and/or Oracle. Hands-on experience with Pandas, NumPy, and PySpark. Strong experience with AWS. Experience with Docker, Git, Linux, and CI/CD. Strong understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, and algorithms. Strong communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Critical Requirement Migration Experience Candidates must have successfully completed at least two full system or application migrations. The resume should clearly demonstrate: System/application migrated Source and target platforms/technologies Candidate's specific role and responsibilities Development, data migration, integration, testing, and deployment experience Successful production implementation/cutover Required Education / Platform Experience Recent education-platform experience is mandatory. Relevant experience may include: Higher-education technology Online learning platforms Learning Management Systems (LMS) Student platforms E-learning systems Continuing education platforms Workforce education platforms University technology platforms Education administration systems Candidates should have recent hands-on experience developing, supporting, integrating, or enhancing technology platforms used within the education or higher-education ecosystem. Preferred Qualifications Flask FastAPI Databricks Azure ETL / ELT Data warehousing Real-time data processing Java or C++ Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into Python applications Candidate Requirements Must be available to work full-time onsite at Chelsea Piers, New York City. Must be available for a 1-year contract-to-hire opportunity. Must have recent and relevant education-platform experience. Must have successfully completed at least two full migrations. Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is a senior-level Python/Django Developer with strong backend development expertise and hands-on experience in education technology, enterprise data environments, cloud platforms, integrations, and production migrations.
