Description: The section for energy, environmental and transport statistics develops statistics relating to energy, emissions to air, waste and
transport. We are looking for a colleague to prepare and further develop statistics in the area of waste and the circular economy. The statistics are of great importance for the authorities' follow-up of national environmental targets and for international obligations in the area of waste and the circular economy. The positions may involve participation and possibly project management both nationally and internationally. Among other things, we collaborate with Statistics Norway's research department, the Norwegian Environment Agency and other players in the field. Close contact with ministries, directorates, various expertise environments and other users of the statistics must be expected, as well as participation in international meetings. Statistics Norway is in the process of moving statistics production to a new cloud-based data platform, and the positions include both statistical and IT-related development tasks. We are looking for you who have a relevant professional background and an interest in programming.
Tasks- Development of waste statistics and indicators for circular economy
- Planning, operation, quality assurance and documentation of statistical production
- Handling of data files and programming
- Interpretation, analysis and dissemination of the results
- Communication with those who report figures and users of the statistics, as well as international reporting
- Some travel and international representation may be applicable
- The position can be supplemented with other tasks at the section
Qualifications- Education at master's degree level, preferably in technical and natural sciences, environment, sustainability, social studies, economics, IT or statistics
- Good IT skills and interest in/experience with programming, for example in Python and/or R
- Good oral and written presentation skills in Norwegian and English
- Relevant experience can compensate for the education requirement

- You are systematic, quality conscious and have the ability to work in a targeted manner
- You enjoy and are good at collaborating with others
- You are proactive and have the ability to think new things

- Position as first consultant or adviser in salary range currently NOK 600,000 - 700,000. Salary is determined based on your qualifications. Higher wages can be considered for applicants who are particularly well qualified
