Your Mission

syte uses complex algorithms that calculate building metrics based on 3D point clouds and 3D models. Typical examples of relevant metrics include floor area, number of stories, volume, and building heights.To ensure fast development cycles and to be able to quantitatively and automatically evaluate changes to the algorithms at the push of a button, syte relies on high-quality QA data. To systematically expand and refine this dataset—and thereby develop the foundation against which our algorithms are measured, we are looking for you as a Working Student in Data QA & Algorithm Benchmarking (m/f/d) to start as soon as possible in Münster.

Your Responsibilities

• Ground Truth Audit: You will evaluate the accuracy of existing test data and develop new metrics for this purpose that we can use to evaluate our algorithms.
• Identifying Edge Cases: You will identify new test data for challenging buildings (e.g., complex roof shapes, trees overhanging roofs) and integrate them into the overall dataset.
• Data Sourcing: You’ll identify potential sources for new test datasets and integrate them as automatically as possible.
• Benchmarking & Insights: You run our benchmarking pipelines to quantitatively evaluate both the algorithms and the quality of the data. You will visualize and communicate the results of these analyses in a clear and understandable way so that actionable recommendations can be derived from them.
• Pipeline Engineering: You will implement and test improvements to the benchmarking pipelines and the algorithm parameters.

• Your Degree: You are in a later semester of your bachelor’s program or your first semester of your master’s program in (Geo-/Business) Computer Science, or you have a focus on Data Science/Statistics. You also have a valid proof of enrollment.
• Analytical Skills: You enjoy delving deeply into data and are passionate about statistical data analysis.
• Curiosity about complex data: You enjoy working on and understanding more complex algorithms in a challenging field.
• Team player: You work to high quality standards and coordinate well within a team.
• Language Skills: You are business-proficient in German (at least C1) and fluent in English (at least B2).
• Bonus: You have prior experience in the fields of architecture or PropTech and some programming experience with Python.
