Company: Modern Drive Technology GmbH

Country: Worldwide

Type: Onsite

Employment: Working student

Description:

Understand processes. Building solutions that actually work for SMEs.

Why this position exists

We are a small team in Neumarkt and develop IoT cloud solutions for machine and vehicle manufacturers. At the same time, we are building an automation platform with which we can automate processes – for ourselves and for our customers. With AI agents, LLM connections and the integration of existing specialist systems.

The need is greater than what we can do on the side. That's why we're looking for someone who will work on exactly that: record existing processes, understand where there are problems, and then build a solution that works.

What we are not looking for: someone who writes concepts that no one implements. And no research projects. Our solutions must be suitable for a medium-sized company - i.e. simple enough that they can continue to run without you.

Tasks

What you do

  • Record processes. You talk to the people who go through a process every day - with us or with the customer. You record how it really runs today (not how it should run according to the manual), where time is lost and what should be better in the end.
  • Design. You decide which part can be automated, where AI brings real added value and where a simple rule is enough. You estimate the effort and benefits and present the process owner with a recommendation - not a list of options.
  • Implement, hands-on. You build the solution yourself: AI agents based on LLM APIs, automation workflows, connection to existing systems via REST interfaces and webhooks, plus the necessary data preparation. And a script in Python or JavaScript where clicking isn't enough.
  • Review and handover. You go over with the process owner whether the solution works in everyday life. You check, document so that another person can continue working on it, and hand over cleanly.

Qualification

What you need to bring with you

  • Business fluent German. You will conduct process discussions with users and process owners, sometimes with medium-sized customers. This doesn't work in English. Confident in negotiations means: you discuss freely, even if it becomes technically and linguistically complicated.
  • At least one day per week on site in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz. Process recording works in a conversation, not in the ticket system. The rest of the time you work flexibly and remotely.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI and your first experience with it. No certificate, no major - but you must have built something with AI yourself. An agent, an LLM workflow, a chatbot on your own data, an automation script with a connected model. We ask about it in detail during the conversation.

About this:

  • Ongoing studies – business informatics, computer science, industrial engineering, technology or innovation management or something comparable. The field of study is less important to us than the way you work.
  • You have already completed something - not just started it.
  • You can think your way into a foreign process and ask the right questions.
  • You write in a way that others can understand.

What we like to see, but don't expect

  • Practice with LangChain, LangGraph or comparable agent frameworks
  • Experience with RAG, vector databases or prompt engineering beyond just playing around
  • Basics in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript and SQL
  • Work with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or Cursor

Expressly not a must: n8n. We are working with it, but a colleague is already covering this part. If you know it, good - if not, you'll learn it here in a few days.

Benefits

What you get

  • Real responsibility for your own processes – from the first conversation to going live. No additional work.
  • Guidance from our senior team, but plenty of freedom in implementation.
  • Work with current AI and automation tools on productive systems, not on sandbox projects.
  • Small team, short distances, decisions on the same day.
  • 15–20 hours per week during the semester, more during the semester holidays by arrangement.

Send us your CV and a few sentences about an AI or automation solution that you built yourself: How did the process work before, what did you build, which model or tool did you use and why, what was better afterwards? If there's a repository or a short demo, all the better.
