Description: Do you get excited when information is used to better achieve business goals? Are you interested in playing a significant role in preparing economic and business forecasts and using them to guide operations? We are looking for a key person to lead the support analytics function in Finland's largest public transport organization.

In your role, you are responsible for the relevance of economic and business forecasts, the development of forecast models, and the usability of the forecasts you prepare in HSL's finances and business management. The results of your impressive work can be seen in decision-making and as joint successes, because you work closely with experts responsible for finance and business. You get to develop the data science skills of HSL's data analysts and data experts together with them. The most enjoyable part of your job is the opportunities to influence, taking into account perspectives, learning and doing new things together, finding opportunities and constructive discussions with your colleagues. In your work, the need for quick additional clarifications sometimes arises, but with these you learn new things and get ideas and blanks for your work that can be developed from them. The position is located in HSL's Data production and analytics unit, which is responsible for HSL's knowledge-based management.

What do we expect from you?

We expect you to have several years of work experience as an expert in applied analytics as an important part of a business-oriented environment. It is characteristic of you that, with your work experience, you are able to apply statistical and analytical methods as well as AI methods in forecasts, which are used especially in operational control that emphasizes business performance. We expect you to be able to collect, structure and interpret data on your own initiative, and to turn findings into clear conclusions and propose practical measures to solve business goals in an interactive way. We hope that you have successful application skills, especially in preparing and communicating quantitative economic and business forecasts, and you understand the analytics needs of business operations. Since forecasting with methods is an important part of your job duties, it is to your advantage if you have extensive and in-depth experience in developing forecast models and time series methods, validating model results and systematically evaluating forecast accuracy. We expect you to have strong practical analytics programming skills in Python. You know or are interested in analytics work in cloud environments, and you are familiar with Azure DevOps. Knowledge of Databricks and AI prompting is useful in the task. Success in the position requires a higher university degree in, for example, applied statistics and mathematics, econometrics, biometrics, economics or engineering. In the support analytics lead position, interactivity and the ability to carry through are emphasized, and therefore you have good cooperation and facilitation skills and the ability to act constructively even in situations where views or goals differ from each other.
