Description: The Digital Government Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance is the entity in charge of carrying out the Digital Transformation Strategy of the State of Chile and putting it at the service of the people.

In terms of stack:
- Relational and NoSQL engine management in production, on-premise and cloud: installation, configuration, monitoring, maintenance and updating, with instance, parameter and capacity management.
- PostgreSQL, MongoDB Atlas and Redis, and managed database services on AWS: Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora or technologies equivalents.
- Data design and modeling: logical and physical design, relational modeling, normalization, structural optimization and NoSQL modeling.
- Performance optimization: analysis of SQL queries, indexes, stored procedures and storage mechanisms; Diagnosing performance problems with monitoring and analysis tools.
- Database security: security controls, user management, roles and privileges, authentication, auditing, encryption and access management.
- Backup, recovery and operational continuity: backup and restore strategies, Disaster Recovery, periodic recovery tests and definition of backup policies.
- High availability and resilience: replication, clustering, fault tolerance and contingency recovery plans.
- Automation and scripting: Bash, Python, PowerShell or other equivalents, for administration, monitoring, backups, deployments and maintenance.
- Observability and monitoring: Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, OpenSearch, ELK or equivalent technologies.
- Work with development teams, architecture, DevOps and SRE: design of schemes, query optimization, migrations, deployments, continuous integration and resolution of incidents associated with databases.
- Technical documentation: architectures, configurations, operational procedures, backup and recovery plans, standards and operation manuals.
- Protection of personal data: technical controls that contribute to compliance with Law No. 21,719 and policies institutional information security.
Formal requirement for public office: professional degree in engineering in computing, information technology, telecommunications, electronics or similar, of at least 10 semesters in duration.
The Digital Government Secretariat operates the critical digital infrastructure on which the State of Chile operates, such as:
- ClaveÚnica — the digital identity of more than 16.3 million people.
- Advanced Electronic Signature — used by more than 80% of the public sector, municipalities included.
- PISEE — the platform through which the institutions of the Chile interoperate with each other. State.
More than 700 public institutions depend on these services to operate every day.
We are looking for a Database Administrator who operates engines in production, not just configures them: who diagnoses the slow query before it becomes an incident, who tests backups instead of assuming they are there, and who treats access privileges as a control. You join the Platform team as the data specialist.
It is a public position that involves supporting critical services that serve millions of people.
Functions of the position
- Design, implement and operate the database platforms that support the SGD's digital services: availability, stability, scalability and performance.
- Configure and tune the engines to sustain response times, operational continuity and efficient use of resources.
- Implement and operate high availability, backup, recovery and operational continuity, ensuring the timely restoration of information in the event of failures.
- Monitor health, availability and performance with monitoring and observability tools, identifying risks before they become incidents.
- Manage installation, configuration, updating and security patches of the engines, minimizing the impact on the operation.
- Manage users, roles, privileges, authentication and authorization applying least privilege and ensuring the traceability of the access.
- Define and maintain standards, procedures and policies for the administration, operation and security of institutional databases.
