The intelligence service - Knowledge of the world for the protection of Norway

The mission of the intelligence service is to collect information and notify about conditions abroad that may threaten Norway and Norwegian interests.

We are now looking for a system developer to work with design, development and implementation of processing solutions in C++ and Python. As a system developer with us, you will be responsible for ensuring efficient and stable operation of our systems and processes. You will work closely with our team to meet operational needs, and contribute to developing and improving our solutions.
 
Workplace: Eggemoen, Hønefoss (approx. 1 hour from Gjøvik, Jessheim, Oslo, Drammen, Hokksund).

Tasks You will be part of a professional environment consisting of other developers, data engineers and analysts whose aim is to develop software to meet technical and operational needs.
 
Senior engineer: Development and operation of applications and software within data communication, data analysis and database solutions.
 
Senior engineer: Development and operation of applications and software within data communication, data analysis and database solutions, as well as subject coordinator in the area.
Qualifications

The position has the following requirements that must be met in order to be considered as a current applicant:

Senior engineer:

• Bachelor's degree or education at an equivalent level (cand. degrees, former engineering studies etc.) or scope within the relevant subject area. Several years of experience with good results will, after assessment, compensate for the education requirement.
  
• Experience with modern C++, Java or C# programming.
  
• Experience with Linux.
  
• Knowledge of database systems, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or similar.

Senior engineer:

• Master's degree or education at a similar level (major subject, professional studies, etc.) or scope within a relevant subject area. A relevant bachelor's degree, or education at an equivalent level, and several years of experience with good results will, after assessment, be able to compensate for the education requirement.
  
• Several years of experience with modern C++, Java or C# programming.
  
• Experience with Linux.
  
• Knowledge of database systems, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL etc.

In addition, it is desirable if you have experience with:

Senior engineer:
• Network programming and network protocols.
• Test-driven development.
• Python.
 
Senior Engineer:
• Network programming and network protocols.
• Test-driven development.
• Python.
• Project management and agile development methods.

Special requirements for a position in the Intelligence Service:

Applicants must meet the requirements for the highest security clearance.

For employment in the Intelligence Service, you cannot have anything other than Norwegian citizenship at the time of employment.

The position is subject to a duty to be ordered, cf. the Defense Act and the Defense Personnel Regulations, which means that you can be ordered to international operations. This normally happens on the basis of willingness. Duty to order entails requirements for medical and physical fitness and basic knowledge of English. If you do not meet the requirements, you have the option of applying for a dispensation.

You will receive an annual salary within the range of NOK 690,000 - 830,000 in the position of Senior Engineer (code: 1087) or NOK 785,000 - 980,000 in the position of Senior Engineer (code: 1181) according to current Main Tariff Agreement. For particularly qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered. Final salary placement and position code depend on qualifications.
