Description: About the position and tasks

Do you want to become our new GIS engineer/advisor

The Transport Agency in Troms county municipality is responsible for around 2900 km of county roads, 573 bridges, 40 tunnels and 28 ferry quays. We work with operation, maintenance, rehabilitation and new development projects along this road network and are one of the region's largest builders within transport. The position is currently placed in the Technical section under the infrastructure department. 

About the position

As a GIS engineer in the Swedish Transport Agency, you will develop, configure and publish maps and map services. You will work with the automation of processes using Python and FME, further develop GIS services and contribute to a more structured and efficient management of geographic data in the ArcGIS environment. The position also involves utilizing data models and building BIM models, as well as ensuring high quality metadata and documentation.

In addition, you will have an important role in the dissemination of specialist knowledge and act as a process driver or coordinator in selected processes. You will strengthen GIS consultancy in the organization and provide professional support and guidance to other sections and departments.

Job tasks:

•            Manage, operate and develop the Swedish Transport Agency's ArcGIS environment with associated software, data and applications.

•            Contribute to making geographical data available through the use of map portals and map narratives, as well as conveying statistics in dashboard.

Qualification requirements

• Higher education in geomatics, geography, GIS or equivalent. 
• Experience from public or private business within the GIS subject
• Good knowledge within the ESRI environment.
• Knowledge of programming in Python and use of FME.
• Knowledge of the main components of construction BIM models
• Good communication skills in Norwegian both written and spoken.
• Driving license class B
