For almost three decades, Norfund has been one of Norway's most important and effective instruments for sustainable economic development in developing countries. We will be at the forefront of technology and analysis, and now we are expanding the team that contributes to our success in just that. We are currently looking for someone who has experience in development, and preferably some experience in building AI-driven tools, for the team that builds and operates Norfund's AI tools.

Norfund is the Norwegian government's investment fund for businesses in developing countries. Since 1997, we have shown that capital can be used for more than financial returns.

We are in the middle of an exciting phase where we are introducing AI into several important work processes. The goal is both to streamline existing processes and free up time for core business through new, dedicated AI tools.

You will be part of a small and competent technology team of five people, where it is a short way from idea to solution. We believe in testing, learning and adjusting along the way, and are looking for you who thrive on just that.

We are looking for you who use AI tools actively in your daily development and have a clear, critical opinion on where they can and cannot be trusted. You are used to production responsibility: owning what you have delivered, not just delivering it.

Job tasks:

• Develop AI-driven tools in close collaboration with a small and competent tech team of five people.

• Take technical ownership of a module from end to end -- including architecture selection, code review and what happens after release.

• Develop and manage our self-developed application environment and support the solutions the business uses every day.

• Continue developing the SQL data warehouse and data models that ensure good and reliable data for analysis and reporting.

• Build and maintain data pipelines in Azure Data Factory and Databricks.

• Work with APIs and integrations that ensure that data flows stably between the systems.

• Explore new platforms, tools and working methods and assess where they can provide real value.

We are looking for you as:

• Is curious about AI and wants to use it actively in development work -- whether it is AI agents, coding assistants or prompt engineering.

• Has solid experience with SQL and Python

• Knows and is confident in source control and CI/CD, REST APIs and handling secrets and access control

• Thrives with testing, failing, learning and adjusting the course when the path to the solution is not completely obvious.

• Communicates well and is good at documenting what you create.

• Has a bachelor's degree or higher in informatics, data or a similar subject area, preferably with good academic results.

It is also an advantage if you know or have experience with Medallion Architecture (Bronze → Silver → Gold), ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration of AI agents. Experience from roles such as tech lead or architect is also relevant, in addition to interest in or experience from the finance and investment industry.
