Description: Would you like to help quantify how the Norwegian economy works? Our research contributes to forming the basis for economic policy in the ministries and is important for the public debate. A particularly important task for the research department at Statistics Norway is the development, maintenance and use of economic models in research and analysis. The models are mainly financed by the Ministry of Finance and cover the subject areas of macroeconomics, long-term public finances, tax, the labor market, population projections and environmental economics. Both the models and Statistics Norway's analyzes are used by the Government, the central administration and the partners in working life in their planning work.
 
In the research department, group for macroeconomics, there is a vacancy for a permanent position as a model developer. The position entails, among other things, modernizing the infrastructure that forms the basis of the macro models. You will become part of a broad technology environment at SSB and collaborate with developers and other technical professionals across the organisation. An important responsibility will be to develop robust and well-documented solutions for data flow, model running and analysis production. The position will also be linked to current analysis projects.

What competence is necessary?
  • Higher education at master's degree level. Current subject areas are computer science, economics and statistics.
  • Experience with programming (e.g. Python, Matlab and EViews).
  • Ability to quickly familiarize yourself with complex systems and new tools.
  • Interest in macroeconomics and technical aspects of model-based research.
  • Good written and oral presentation skills in Norwegian (or another Scandinavian language) and English.

  • Salary as a senior consultant/advisor/senior advisor (1408/1434/1364) in a salary range from NOK. 620,000 to 800,000 depending on qualifications. A higher salary can be considered for applicants who are particularly well qualified.
