About the role and the team

The Cloud Platform Engineering (CPE) is a Business Unit of nearly 200 people which continues to strengthen itself to support Decathlon's tech ambitions. Our main objective is to streamline the technical product catalog and provide turnkey services for IT teams, allowing them to focus on the development of features with high application impact.

Within the CPE, you will join the Cloud Dev team. Our mission is to provide essential and abstract functionality for the Cloud, applying software engineering development best practices to unify, secure and optimize our platforms.

You will join a human-sized team, made up of passionate engineers. We are fans of software development, Infrastructure as Code, DevOps/SRE culture, automation, technology monitoring... and of course, sport!

Scope and missions of a Platform Engineer

As a Platform Engineer, you will play a central role in empowering development teams through platform engineering. Your missions will revolve around the following pillars:

1. Software Engineering & Cloud Abstraction

• Use development best practices (Software Engineering, Software Architecture) to design clean, robust and maintainable code creating layers of abstraction on top of the Cloud.
• Develop and industrialize APIs, internal tools and infrastructure modules in Python and Go.
• Consume and orchestrate Serverless services (Google Cloud Functions, Google Workflows) and modernize deployment tooling.

2. Infrastructure as Code & Automation DevSecOps

• Design, test and deploy infrastructure in a consistent and automated way with Terraform.
• Build and optimize modern CI/CD pipelines (preferably with GitHub Actions) integrating DevSecOps security standards by design.
• Automate recurring tasks using scripting (Python, Bash) to reduce manual effort and maximize reliability.

3. Transversal Integration & Operational Excellence

• Work closely with the Network, Security and Database teams to ensure smooth, efficient and secure integrations.
• Run Captain role: support level 2/3 support, incident analysis and service request processing to ensure operational stability.
• Contribute to the definition and compliance of SLO/SLI as well as the MTTR reduction process by automating the resolution of recurring problems.

4. Support, Sharing & Product Culture

• Write own technical documentation and user guides to facilitate the adoption of platform services.
• Raise awareness and train technical teams in good practices for using the components developed.
• Participate in collective animation via the agile management of our deliverables in JIRA and promote knowledge sharing within the team.

What you'll need to succeed

• Experience & Dev: At least 3 years of experience in Python development with a strong grasp of modern software engineering practices.
• Cloud Expertise: Strong skills and proven experience on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Infrastructure as Code & CI/CD: Mastery of Terraform and very good practice of CI/CD pipelines (ideally GitHub Actions).
• Scripting & Serverless: Good knowledge of automation (Python, Bash) and Serverless / event-driven architecture.
• Soft Skills & Team Spirit: Excellent interpersonal skills, strong sense of customer/internal user satisfaction, rigor in documentation and ease in solving complex problems.
• Languages: English mastered both orally and in writing, minimum B2 level.
• A plus: Knowledge of the Go language, the use of Google Workflows or a GCP certification (Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Developer).
