In the Police IT unit (PIT) we work with both traditional infrastructure and modern cloud solutions. We handle complex technical environments, and ensure that users experience a unified and seamless access solution.

• how do we ensure stable and scalable network solutions in an environment with high demands on uptime and performance?
• how do we standardize and automate configuration and operation so that changes are predictable and safe?
• how do we further develop the network infrastructure in line with new needs, technologies and security requirements?

These are real challenges, and you will be one of those who solve them.

As a Platform Engineer, you belong to the Infrastructure and Operations section. Together with the team, you ensure the development, operation and administration of the police's network infrastructure. 

When you work in a team with us, you help solve issues related to borders, asylum, criminal cases, patrols - or one of our other domains. Since we work with many different issues, you have the opportunity to work in different teams based on where there is the greatest need for your perspective and expertise. This gives you the opportunity to learn new domains and technologies. 

In the Police IT unit, we have over 850 employees. We create value for citizens, partners and colleagues in the police. As part of the police's important social mission, we must prevent and fight crime, create safety and safeguard the rule of law. We are at work for a safe Norway. 

• Ensuring stability, performance and availability on the platform.
• Modernisation initiative with a focus on standardisation, automation and "Infrastructure as Code" (IaC).
• Cooperate closely with other teams and professional environments in the Police IT unit.
• Handle 2nd and 3rd line support within own areas of responsibility.
• Document solutions, changes and design - and actively contribute to sharing culture in the team.
• You must expect to be on standby duty in the watch team together with your colleagues.
• You will also contribute to other tasks assigned to the section. 

Your workplace will be Majorstuen. 

• Education from vocational school, college or university in IT. Relevant experience can compensate for a lack of formal education. Alternatively professional diploma in ICT service subjects combined with relevant work experience.
• Minimum 5 years' experience with firewall technology.
• Experience with Check Point.
• Experience in troubleshooting and solving complex technical problems.
• Experience in designing network solutions.
• You can communicate well in Norwegian, both verbally and in writing. The working language is Norwegian.

In addition, it is desirable if you have:

• experience with cloud on-prem
• experience with operating other firewall technologies
• experience with Zero trust
• experience with various development languages, frameworks and technologies to be able to program, automate and design self-service infrastructure solutions
• knowledge of NSM's basic principles for ICT security, and how these are used in practice when designing and operating secure platform solutions

• The position is paid as senior advisor (position code 1364) with an annual salary of NOK. 730,000 - 980,000. For particularly qualified applicants, a higher salary can be considered.
