At KnowWay, we develop AI agents for critical infrastructure – energy, telecommunications and public sectors. Wherever compliance, traceability and data sovereignty do not allow compromises, we automate business processes with AI.

The role

We are building an AI platform for the energy industry. Our agents support processes such as supplier changes, network connection, billing and metering point operation.

As a forward deployed AI engineer, you will take on a use case from discovery to go-live. You work directly with departments at municipal utilities and energy suppliers, understand their processes and translate this knowledge into productive AI agents.

You combine GenAI engineering with customer work: You conduct technical interviews and workshops, develop working solutions using Python, LLMs, RAG and tools and ensure through systematic evaluation that they work reliably in everyday life.

Tasks

• Conduct workshops and technical interviews and understand complex processes and implicit knowledge
• Translate requirements into agent blueprints and technical solutions
• Develop AI agents with LLMs, RAG, tool use / function calling and agent orchestration
• Prepare documents, data and knowledge for retrieval and agents
• Develop working prototypes within a few days and iterate with users
• Set up golden questions, test sets and regression tests for evaluation
• Analyze feedback and continuously improve agents
• Communicate technical possibilities and limitations clearly to customers
• Further develop reusable components together with our platform team

The team

You work closely with our platform and delivery team from AI and software engineering as well as consulting. We develop solutions together with our customers - reusable components and insights flow back into our platform.

Qualification

Must-haves

• Practical experience in GenAI Engineering, ideally at least 1-2 years
• Experience with LLM applications, RAG, prompt engineering, tool use and agent orchestration
• Very good Python knowledge at production level
• Experience with evaluating GenAI applications, e.g. E.g. test sets, golden questions or regression tests
• Understanding of Chunking, retrieval, metadata and knowledge structures
• Enjoy direct customer contact and the ability to independently structure unclear requirements
• High ownership and pragmatic handling of changing requirements
• Fluent in German

For us, built applications count more than certificates. We therefore particularly enjoy looking at our own projects, GitHub repositories or other work samples.

Nice to have

• Energy industry know-how, e.g. B. Market communication, GPKE, EDIFACT, SAP IS-U or kVASy
• BPMN or comparable process modeling
• GCP, Docker and CI/CD
• Knowledge graphs or structured knowledge representation
• Experience from consulting or other customer-facing technical roles

At mid-level you take on your own use cases from discovery to go-live. At senior level, you will also further develop standards and blueprints for our agent building, work at customer management level and help us scale forward deployed engineering in the team.
